Before everything
Neighboring with Germany, Denmark is a small country in the north. Denmark is a country with a long and interesting history, a kingdom that has been involved in many historical movements over the years. In addition, many kingdoms close to Denmark made strategic attempts to invade the country. The other neighbor is Sweden, which reminds one of Denmark with things like architecture and social behavior, for example. Both countries are proud of their traditions and place great value on not breaking ties with old traditions.
The family conjuncture is one of the precious things that Danes and Swedes appreciate. But they like to save it for special events that happen throughout the year. This could be family weekends or holidays where they have time to spend together. Because Danes work hard and actually a big part of daily life in Denmark is to lead a busy life.
Danish lifestyle and architecture
When I visited Denmark, I saw many interesting things around the country and many old cities with a touch of romance. What caught my attention the most were the beautiful houses in the small towns around the islands. This is really easy to spot and anyone who has been to Denmark will know what I mean. I traveled from Germany and went on my motorcycle to a small seaside town in the northeast of the small island called Fyn. When I came to Kerteminde, I felt very good because I could really feel the feeling of being surrounded by water. The beach went from one site to the next with a long stretch of coastline beach area. It was a summer vacation, or rather a vacation for me, so I went swimming in the beautiful ocean every day.
First time in a bed and breakfast
I stayed at the Samlingsstuens bed and breakfast located in the city center of the small town. He had his residence inside a protected building in a courtyard called “Andreasens købmandsgaard”. Here she had beautiful rooms with beautiful flowers on the coffee table next to my bed, and a beautiful clean room, which I value very much.
My schedule was telling me to stay in Kerteminde for only a few days, but I actually stayed there for 5 days. I’m a bit of a nature person too, so I was often curious about the surrounding beaches and large forests.
Danish Vikings
I also went to the Viking museum, which is about 10 km from Samlingsstuen. The modern Vikings had a meeting. I learned a lot about Danish history and culture that day and even tasted real Viking food.
Basically this was a really proven place to go with a family, with so much for the kids to do and learn. But even going there by myself was really enjoyable.
Finally
I would like to share a saying that I came across many times during my stay in Denmark. It’s called “hygge,” and it’s a unique description of a family union, for example, or maybe another way of saying “keep calm.” This word is particularly associated with Denmark and describes very well how the Danes are.
